The Indus people had a thriving trade between their cities. But sometimes, trade can be competitive.
22 Aug 17:35 10 Game : Steal the Bacon

Two teams line up facing each other with a large space between them. In the middle of the two teams an object is placed that represents the “bacon”. Each team captain gives each of her team members a number. Then the captains from each team take turns calling out numbers. The two players (one from each team) whose number was called advance to the “bacon.” Each player tries to steal the “bacon” without being tagged by the opposing player. When the “bacon” is successfully stolen, one point is earned for that team. When a player tags the opposing player with the “bacon” before she reaches her team another point is earned.

22 Aug 17:45 20 Activities : Mapping Mohenjo-Daro Paper or chalk or boxes or lego
Hand out large grid paper (or chalk outside).

Each team receives “clues” about where to place features of an Indus Valley city (e.g., The Great Bath is in the center, the granary is near the river, houses are in rows).

Cubs work together to draw or build a map of an Indus Valley city.

Variation: Use Lego/blocks for 3D building.

The city was divided into two parts: the Citadel (for administrative and religious purposes) and the Lower Town (residential area).
Streets were laid out in a grid pattern, intersecting at right angles.
Houses were made of standardized baked bricks and had private wells and bathrooms.
Great Bath:
One of the most iconic structures at Mohenjo-Daro.
It was a large, rectangular tank made of baked bricks and waterproofed with bitumen.
Likely used for ritual bathing or religious ceremonies.
Drainage System:
Mohenjo-Daro had an advanced underground drainage system with covered drains.
Each house was connected to the main drainage system, ensuring proper sanitation.
Granaries:
Large granaries have been discovered, indicating the importance of agriculture and food storage.

Afterward, discuss what archaeologists learn from artefacts and find modern equivalents of the items.

22 Aug 18:35 10 Activities : First Aid Silver Wolf

First Aid kit (not necessary but to show them where it is kept and what is in it that can be used in an emergency)

First Aid

  1. Know the importance of summoning adult help in the case of accidents.
  2. Show how to treat a simple cut and graze.
  3. Show how to treat a bleeding nose.

Can use a fake wound for the cut/graze to make the activity more realistic.

Include burns if wanted as this is a common hazard at camps and in the kitchen that is not covered.

22 Aug 18:45 0 Game : Band-Aid Tag
There is no "it" in this tag game! All Cubs can tag and be tagged. When a Cub is tagged, they put a hand on the spot where they were tagged—that's the "Band-Aid." Then, they can keep playing, using their free hand to tag others.

If they get tagged again, they'll need to use their other hand as a second Band-Aid, but they can still keep playing! A third tag sends them to the "hospital" (a designated spot near the playing area). Once there, they can perform a predetermined action, such as hopping on one foot for a count of 10, to heal their wounds and then return to the game.
