(taking some articles of clothing out of bag) lets use this to play a game before putting the dirty washing in the laundry basket
12 Jan 10:35 10 Game : Running Noughts and Crosses

Set up 4 staves as a 3x3 grid on one end of the field.

Two teams of 6 are lined on the opposite end of the field, with 3 players holding a color square of their team in their hand.

They will play a game of noughts and crosses (tic tac toe).

Each player will run forward and place their bib in a square.  The first team to form a 3 in a row line (diagonal, horizontal, vertical) of their teams colours wins a point.

If neither team has won from the initial run in then players can move their own team's bibs continually until one team wins.

If you have bigger teams, number your players and call 3 numbers out to start. They can then run back to the sideline to tag another player in to move a bib.

(Pull a tin can out of the bag) Some wierd things land up under the bed instead of the recycling but I think we can make a cool game out of this.
12 Jan 10:45 20 Game : Tin Can Golf

You can get the Cubs to make all the elements first and then play or make the items ahead of time and just play the game either as a team game or over a wide area.

For the holes:

Tin cans (as many as the holes you want for the game)

Ice cream stick

Flags (numbers on a triangle cutout)

Glue stick & scissors

Tape

How to make tin can gold holes

For the club:

2 x paper towel rolls, plus a half cut lengthways to brace them together
1 piece of thick recycled cardboard (ideally a flap from a cardboard carton)
Duct tape

  1. Make the club by cutting out a piece from the cardboard scrap as shown in the collage below for the bottom of the club, cover with duct tape and trim.
  2. Stick the 2 paper towel rolls together with the duct tape using the half piece cut lengthways as a brace over the join. Cover the entire stick with duct tape to give it a bit more strength and also for aesthetic value.
  3.  Tape the cardboard “club” to the end

DIY cardboard gold club

For the obstacles:

Assorted cardboard boxes – e.g. cereal boxes, cracker boxes etc.
Duct Tape and scissors

Cut the boxes up and make them into different obstacles. For example cut the base and top out of the box to create a tunnel, or attach ramps and sides to create a bridge over the top of the box.

Now play golf

Make an ‘X’ out of duct tape as the starting point and the Cubs can take turns making their way through the course.
