Advancement | Hiking |
Time to allocate (mins) | 60 |
Outcome | Can be combined with trails to get them to follow a trail/lay a trail and pick up an item from the area around a trail sign - helps them look for interesting objects that they would describe in a hike log when they eventually become Scouts. |
Resources | Different coloured wool of about 1m in length |
Instructions | 1. Cubs to find for themselves a 50cm – 1m long stick At the end of the walk, the children use the objects to tell about their journey. Alternatively, you could encourage them to remember where they found particular objects by getting individuals to lead the rest of the group to the spot. |
