How good is your imagination? If you were stuck on an island with nothing to do, how well could you pretend?
10 Oct 10:35 10 Game : Use your imagination   The leader to pretend to throw a ball into the group of children.  They then pretend to kick it to each other.  Next, hand out pretend skipping ropes and they all have to pretend to skip.  Can imagine any type of equipment - hula hoops, bounce a ball for netball/basketball, a bat and ball for baseball.  Maybe let each Cub choose something and then they act it out.

Rope is an important tool in any survival kit but if you can't tie a knot, it isn't very useful.
10 Oct 11:00 10 Game : Knots and Crosses  

Use staves to create a normal noughts and crosses board (4 staves in total).  Split the Six into two groups of three for each team (thus each Cub will get one turn to tie the knot). 

Assign each team the knot for their team.  You can use easier knots or a combination of knots.  Each team takes a turn to tie the appropriate knot and place it on the nougths and crosses board.  The first team to get all their knots in a row wins.  They can then swop sides (knots).

So - you can use bowline, reef and sheet bend for noughts.  Figure of eight, clove hitch (around a smaller stick) or round turn and two half hitches can be crosses. 

It doesn't matter how long each Cub takes to make the knot - they are going in turns so it is not a race :-)

10 Oct 11:10 15 Activities : Trail Signs Two sets of 3-by-5 index cards for each team (each of the first set bearing a drawing of a trail sign; each of the second set with the definition of one of the trail signs) 

Sixes are seated around their table with the two sets of cards in the middle. The cards with the pictured trail signs are placed face down; the cards with the definitions are spread out face up. On signal, the first Cub from each patrol draws one of the face down cards and places it on the correct definition card. Continue until all cards are matched.


Scoring:  The first six to correctly match all cards wins.

Along the way, they need to hide pictures of the Banderlog (monkeys) for the other Cubs to find.

Once trail ready, Silver Wolves to follow the trail and count the Banderlog they find along the way.

Have you ever eaten a coconut? The cool thing is that they are not just food and water - they make excellent furry balls to play a game
10 Oct 12:00 10 Game : Coconut Relay   You will need:  Ping pong balls and a pool noodle for each team.
The object of the game is for teams (one person at a time) to herd 3 ping pong balls (or coconuts) at the same time around an obstacle course (or back and forth around an orange cone) only using the end of the pool noodle.  This works great indoors on a tile floor ... for outside you can still use the ping pong balls or use balloons.  Tip:  the ping pong balls can be colored with permanent markers in the tribes colors to keep track of what balls belong to each team.

Knowing your knots is one thing but can you recognise the knots and what they are used for?

Players in circle, one ties a knot in a bit of rope and drops it at the feet of one of another group, who must name the knot correctly and say if it is tied right before the tier has run around the circle. Whichever wins ties the next knot, and so on.
